Digital Camera Repairs

Digital cameras refer to cameras that record and store photographic images in digital form.

The very first digital camera was made in 1975.
It was put together by a kodak engineer named Steve Sasson. With a weight of 3.6kg, it was the size of a toaster, and took 23 seconds to take a single photograph!

Almost 50 years later, digital cameras have progressed hugely. Many current models are able to capture sound or video, in addition to still images. We have been repairing and servicing digital cameras for decades now.

For older models, parts are not always easy to source, but don’t worry, we have a huge stock of spare parts and we can even manufacture our own parts using modern methods such as 3D printing. We repair all faults including liquid contamination, impact damage, replacement shutters & LCDs, and focus calibrations.

The most popular digital brands are Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Sigma and Sony. At Sendean, we have experienced technicians who are specialised in repairing these brands. But we also repair many other brands, and each repair is bespoke, so bring in your equipment for an inspection and quote.

Our top 3 digital camera problems

These are the most common problems our customers face

Cracked LCD Screens.

Dropped your camera and smashed the screen, or it just won’t light up? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! We have new LCD screens in stock for hundreds of different models.

Sensor Cleans.

Ever taken the perfect landscape shot, only to discover that the photo has grey spots all over the sky? Sounds like you need a sensor clean. We clean the sensors of all cameras - DSLR, mirrorless and even compact cameras with fixed lenses.

Aperture & Shutter.

The most common wear and tear parts in cameras and lenses are the shutter and aperture units. Most digital lenses have electronic apertures that wear out over time. We keep the replacement parts in stock for almost every model ever made!

We have vast experience in repairing these and many other issues.

Analogue Camera Repairs

Analogue cameras use film to capture a shot. Unlike digital images, part of the fun is waiting for the developing and scanning - old school! The main formats of film cameras are: 120 roll film (medium format), 35mm, 16mm, Super 8 & 8mm.

Film had its beginning in the 1880’s and soon after came the first moving picture film.

Film cameras are widely used today and were built to last (especially the metal bodied SLRs). Although they are internally complex, we have decades of experience servicing, repairing and restoring vintage cameras.

We repair almost any make and model including Bolex, Contax, Hasselblad, Mamiya, Minolta, Nikon, Nizo, Olympus and Pentax just to name a few. We don’t give up easily on repairs! Even with the models that are difficult to source parts for, we can modify parts from other cameras or manufacture our own parts to bring much loved camera equipment back to its former glory. We use top end focus collimators to calibrate lenses, rangefinders and mirror boxes. Our quotes are based on a thorough inspection by our own technicians, so you can be sure that the quote for repair is reliable and there will be no unexpected costs.

Our top 3 analogue camera problems

Light Leak.

Getting unwanted bright streaks of light on your photos? Sounds like your camera needs replacement light traps. Generally these require replacing every 15 years or so. We stock light traps for all makes and models.

Jammed Winder.

Your camera won’t wind on the film? Or having trouble releasing the shutter? A service will rectify this issue and keep your camera running smoothly.

Inaccurate Light Meter.

One or two stops out? We can calibrate the internal light meter using our specialist calibration equipment. We also calibrate for modern batteries which use a different voltage to some older batteries.

Our Technicians have successfully repaired cameras with these problems, and many others.
